Construction accident could result in workers' compensation claim

A deadly out-of-state construction accident occurred recently that took the life of one construction worker and seriously injured another. Police say a car ran off the road and into the construction site where the two men were working. When a construction accident like this occurs in Illinois that results in a worker being injured, that worker is typically entitled to file for workers' compensation benefits.

The accident occurred on a recent Tuesday morning in February. Around 10:30 a.m., police say the 26-year-old man driving a car left the roadway and then struck two construction workers. The victims were reported as being 21 and 50 years old. After hitting the younger worker, the car allegedly continued driving a block further on while the young man remained on the hood of the car. The vehicle then reportedly struck a telephone pole before coming to a stop.

The younger of the two Texas workers was pronounced dead on the scene. The older worker was rushed to a local hospital with head trauma and a serious leg injury. Police say the driver may have been driving while intoxicated.

Anyone injured on the job has every right to seek legal advice and assistance after an accident occurs. In the case of this construction accident, the injured worker is entitled to submit a workers' compensation claim in order to recoup some of the financial losses incurred due to lost pay and medical bills. In the state of Illinois, an experienced workers' compensation lawyer can help individuals with similar types of legal claims.
