What's the best way to avoid a truck crash?

Imagine driving on the highway. You're minding your own business, staying in your lane and obeying the speed limit. You're not looking to start trouble, and you want to get where you're going safely.

Now, imagine that you're boxed in by several large trucks. You might speed up to try to get around them or quickly slow down to avoid being alongside the trucks. If you're in every truck's blind zone, you could end up in a crash.

You're not alone if that kind of situation has happened to you. Truck drivers often disobey the commonsense rules of the road, such as staying in the right lane to allow others to pass on the left. In their rush to complete jobs, drivers may make mistakes and take risks that put others' lives in jeopardy.

What can you do to avoid a crash involving a semi?

The best thing to do is to avoid a scenario like above. You should do your best to slow down or go around trucks rather than ride alongside them. If you see multiple trucks ahead, do your best not to get trapped between multiple trucks since having one to the side, front and rear increases the likelihood of a driver not seeing you.

You can also avoid crashes with trucks by attempting to avoid common travel days or truck routes. For instance, highways are a common place to see trucks, but back roads and neighborhood streets are less likely to have them present.

If you do get into a crash, remember that you can fight back. You have a right to seek compensation for any injuries you suffer.
