What Are TTD Workers' Compensation Benefits?

TTD workers' compensation benefits cover two-thirds of an employee's average weekly wage during the time he or she cannot work due to an on-the-job injury. How Can You Obtain Temporary Total Disability Benefits?

In order to be eligible for temporary total disability benefits, you will need to take the following actions:

  • Ask your physician or health care provider to provide you with an off-work slip or work status slip.

  • Provide a copy of the off-work slip to your employer.

  • Provide a copy of the off-work slip to your attorney.


Your attorney will forward your off-work slip to the workers' compensation insurance company or adjuster and/or its attorney to request the appropriate temporary total disability benefits on your behalf.

Remember, you should keep copies of any and all temporary total disability check stubs you receive. Provide these copies to your attorney so that he or she can log and keep track of the dates, amounts and periods of time for which TTD benefits are owed.
